Celebrating Legacy and Leadership this Women’s Month

August in South Africa is more than just a month on the calendar; it’s a time we celebrate the women who have shaped the world and have an impact in our lives. As we honour the remarkable women who marched on 9 August 1956, defying unjust pass laws and demanding dignity, freedom, and equality their courage marked a turning point in the fight for human rights and gave rise to a legacy of female resilience and leadership that continues to inspire generations.

At Body20, we are proud to see that same spirit of leadership and determination alive within our network. Just over 40% of our studios across southern Africa are proudly female owned, which is a testament to the incredible strength and vision women bring to our brand. Even more inspiring, the Body20 Studio of the Year Award has been won by female-owned studios for three consecutive years since 2022. These recognitions reflect the strong leadership shown by our female Franchisees and highlight the influential role women in leadership play in driving excellence and growth within the Body20 network and beyond.

From a Guinness World Record–holding mountaineer, moms balancing business and family, to experienced professionals, they are living proof that women can do it all. Through their achievements, they continue to redefine what is possible and show the transformative influence women have in every sphere of life.

Empowering Women, Empowering Communities

These female Franchisees are much more than just business owners. They are community leaders who uplift others, innovators who bring fresh ideas into the fitness space, nurturers who care deeply for their staff and members’ wellbeing, and role models who inspire the next generation of women leaders. They have made an impact that extends far beyond their own Studios.

They have created an environment where people find encouragement, accountability, and belonging in their studio’s. To them it is not just about the physical results, but also about helping members build confidence, resilience, and transformation that spills into every area of life. Whether guiding someone through their first workout, celebrating milestones, or mentoring their teams, our female Franchisees lead with empathy and strength, proving that business success and heart-driven leadership go hand in hand.

This Women’s Month, we honour every woman who has helped pave the way, from the brave souls of 1956 to the bold visionaries of today. To the women across the Body20 network, franchisees, coaches, staff and members: Thank you for leading, supporting, and inspiring with dedication and purpose.

You personify what Women’s Month is about - strength, vision, and unshakable determination.
